Turn Your Camera Phone into a Police-Style Dash Cam
Whatever your motivation for wanting to have a dash-cam, this simple hack will help you capture your road travels with a car-mounted camera.
Tim Cox wanted to turn his iPhone into a Cops-style dash cam. He decided to take the simplest approach possible and simply cut a hole in his windshield-mounted iPhone holder that matched up to the camera on the iPhone.
Now when his phone is mounted into the holder, he has a nice view of the road through its videwfinder—almost as if he were recording from the perspective of his rear-view mirror. Check out the video below to see it in action.
Although this particular mount-modder used an iPhone, you could use just about any camera phone, so long as you selected the proper case and mount for an unobstructed camera view. Want better quality footage than your cameraphone can offer? Check out how to turn a sponge into a dashboard mount for a video camera.
